On behalf of the M.S.C. Executive and the current membership, welcome to the Marquetry Society of Canada. We are a not-for-profit society and do not engage in any commercial enterprise. Our membership is comprised of people of all ages and from all walks of life. Some members are professional woodworkers, but most, perhaps like you are novices who have accepted the challenge of learning the techniques used in "Marquetry".

The Goal of our society is to increase public knowledge of Marquetry - what is Marquetry? and how is it done? To that end, we attend and demonstrate at woodworking and hobby shows. In addition, we arrange two one-day "Hands-on" workshops each year as well as demonstrate the various aspects of Marquetry at our monthly meetings.

We hope your membership in the M.S.C. will provide you with the necessary information to perfect the skills to pursue this ancient and highest form of wood surface decoration. The executive is always available at meeting and by phone to assist, should you have any questions. We hope to see you at our monthly gatherings, or stop by and see us at our show venue booths.

Veneer Packs

The M.S.C. has veneer packs, which are intended for new members or those having difficulty obtaining veneers, for $30.00 by mail, $25.00 pick-up. Each pack has about 40 square feet of assorted, common veneers. These may be ordered from the Membership Chairman or other executives.

Marquetry Kits

This is the beginners kit made up by the M.S.C. and is available to members. It is "Fisherman's Harbour" designed by Ernie Ives, and includes a book of instructions "Marquetry for Beginners". The price is $20.00 and may be ordered from the Membership Chairman A video in VHS Format of the making of the "Fisherman's Harbour" is available for 1 month max. at $20.00 deposit or $25.00 by mail. This is a purchased copy of Ernie Ives' video and is available from the Librarian.
